Hitting 100

Well, this morning I woke up, still sick with a cold as I have been since Christmas, but I jumped out of bed to go check the scale. You see, yesterday when I weighed in I was at 183.5. I just knew that since I was cleansing yesterday --- that I might actually hit my goal of 100 pounds today but making it to 182. And I did. :)

On December 29, 2008, I started my new years resolution for the year 2009. I started early because I was ready. I told myself that I was going to push hard and work hard to make sure that in the year 2009 I was going to lose 100 pounds. I knew that it would be hard (I thought nearly impossible at that time). But here I am a year and 2 days later on New Years Eve 2009 and I hit my goal. It feels great. I can't even really express it in words --- it's just very powerful. I've come a long way for a lot of reasons but most importantly I made it here for my health. I'm so much healthier than I was a year ago.

100 pounds lost isn't my final goal. It's actually 130 pounds lost (152 pounds). Specifically the reason I was excited about hitting 100 pounds is because in the summer of 2008 I hit a breaking point with my weight loss and a depression had set in at that time. My best friend Betsy made a pact with me that if I lost 100 pounds that she would quit smoking. Today I got to wake up and call her and tell her that today is the day that she's going to quit smoking. It was a great feeling. I'm using my weightloss (getting myself healthy) to get her healthy too.

I want to thank all of my friends and family who have been there and watched me struggle and battle with temptation this year (sometimes failing miserably). But it's all been worth it. As I get to start a new life in 2010.

I hope that you all make goals to change your life in 2010. Trust me --- it's worth it.
